Self-learning comes from my desire to gain new knowledge and I get my keep the feeling alive.
WHY Self-learning?
We all have been in traditional, instructional learning to get ready for real life. Many just passes the classes without actually learning the why we have to learn ourself all the time? Learning new technologies and standards are required for all IT-architects.
Self-learning has been proven to be effective and fast, thanks to the internet. We can learn how to do almost anything through a simple search or by watching a tutorial if you find the magical word which finds the right material for you.
The internet has maked all publication and distributing studies so easy. The problem is nowdays is to select what to read and learn? Any kind of learning requires one to be ready to take on the subject because the truth is, there will be challenges and obstacles along the way. Be in the right frame of mind, understand what you want to learn and why this subject is important to you. You will need lots of internal motivation so being ready to learn.
What is self-learning?
Self-learning is the new form of learning that is equipping people with skills that are relevant. However, this can be a challenging form of learning it requires lots of discipline and self-control. I think the type of learning fits person who want to solve problem in the quick and effective way. Self-learning gives you the ability to identify problems and finding for effective solutions on your own.
This could be from friends, the internet or by exploration. Whatever the case, challenges and obstacles do not kill your drive to get things done, instead, they provide you with new opportunities to learn something new at your own pace and time. You get to learn how to actively look for solutions instead of having solutions brought to you. Moreover, you can easily adapt to changes in the environment due to the ability to learn fast.
HOW
The process of self-learning places a focus on the process rather than the outcome of the learning. Moreover, there is no pressure to learn the required content within a certain time? You may have smart goals? You choose what you want to learn when you want to learn, and how you want to learn. The overall outcome is content, and this is why self-learners tend to make what they learn, more than those who take part in traditional learning.
When learning, you get to learn other important skills such as time management, self-discipline, and setting your own goals. These are important skills that you can apply anywhere. In fact, people who are good at self-learning have an increased ability to develop other skills as they often have to employ a certain set of skills in order to learn. Self-driven learning comes from a personal desire to gain new knowledge and skills.
